October 2006 Community Crusade - Project Open Hand
This October, KUSF's Community Crusade applauds the work of Project
Open Hand. Project Open Hand provides food and nourishment to improve
the quality of life for the men, women and children it serves.
Project Open Hand programs include meal, grocery and nutrition
counseling for people with symptomatic HIV and AIDS; congregate lunch
and nutrition education for people over 60; and meal service for
homebound and critically ill people under the age of 60. Services are
available to eligible clients living in San Francisco and Alameda
counties, regardless of their race, color, national origin, gender,
sexual orientation, religious affiliation, disability or ability to
pay.
Project Open Hand is currently looking for volunteers to prepare,
serve and deliver food to its clients, as well as to help in their
Grocery Centers and at special events. To find out more about Project

October 2006 Community Crusade - Quan Yin Healing Arts Center
This October, KUSF's Community Crusade celebrates the work of the Quan
Yin Healing Arts Center. Quan Yin is a traditional Chinese medicine
clinic and community center located in the heart of San Francisco's
Mission Districtand committed to providing high quality, affordable,
Chinese medicine services in the Bay Area community.
For more than two decades, Quan Yin has provided acupuncture,
therapeutic massage, Chinese herbal medicine, Chinese exercise and
meditation classes, nutritional counseling, comprehensive
alternative/complementary medicine, and Western medicine support.
Collaborating with other healthcare providers, Quan Yin supports a
holistic philosophy, empowering the individual to take responsibility
for their health and well being.
Quan Yin is currently seeking clinical volunteers to assist the
acupuncturists with patient care, and administrative volunteers to
provide a supportive role in the operation of the clinic. For more
